Juxtapositions Times Three -- Author offers three books of short verse

MORRISTOWN, N.J., Jan. 16, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- In the tradition of Japanese haiku and senryu, but with a contemporary twist, Robert Boni writes about life's typical moments, emotions and reality. He celebrates life, creativity and poetry in three new books, Jux-ta-po-si-tions Volume I, Volume II and Volume III (all available through 1stBooks).

Volume I offers 101 brief, poetic entries, which focus on people's behaviors and interactions in life. The author describes his first book as a "collection of perceptions derived from momentary awareness." He combines unexpected things and hopes to elicit intellectual or emotional responses.

In his second volume, Boni relives his everyday experiences, reveals his observations and reflects on life. "Life is full of surprises," he writes. "Therefore, (this book) is a celebration of life."

Boni continues his exploration of inner self, the environment and reality in Volume III. This volume portrays a range of emotions and offers a telling look at the author's personality and writing style.

Boni's three volumes relate his messages through short verses without rhyme or meter. "The short poetry form is an ideal vehicle for recording experience and enabling the presentation of one's unique perspective and personality," he writes.

In addition to writing, Boni has many hobbies, such as playing golf and tennis, traveling and enjoying the outdoors. A native of Canton, Ohio, he earned degrees from the University of Cincinnati and the Carnegie Institute of Technology and later trained at Harvard and Cornell. He had a successful career in science and engineering with the Army Ordinance Corps and served as chairman and chief executive of two public companies. Boni currently chairs a startup biomaterials company and a personal lines property and casualty insurance brokerage. He and his wife reside in Morristown, N.J., and have two daughters.

Boni plans to soon release another collection of poetry, Mind Coins, and a book of 10 short stories, Tales of Gascone and Others.
