CHARLESTON, S.C., Jan. 28, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- Force Protection, Inc. (OTCBB:FRCP) announced the shipment of a "Buffalo" Mine Protected Clearance Vehicle by its subsidiary, Technical Solutions Group (TSG). This is the ninth delivery against a contract for ten units.
TSG's Buffalo is a highly advanced Mine Resistant Vehicle, with multiple mission configurations and specially designed field reparability. This design mates South African monocoque capsule protection with the latest in American automotive technology to produce a vehicle with superior blast protection, visibility, load carrying capacity, interior space and parts availability. The Buffalo has a large robotic arm that is used to unearth and remove landmines while providing maximum protection to its operators. The technology of the Buffalo protects it against anti-tank mines as well as smaller anti-personnel mines. When needed, the Buffalo can be fitted with plates that provide protection against state-of-the-art Self-Forming Fragment landmines.
Force Protection's CEO Michael Watts remarked, "We're happy with the ongoing production. We think the performance of the Buffalo has reflected very positively on us, and we're looking forward to helping protect our troops." TSG offers a wide array of Mine Protected Vehicles.
