Southern States Power Co. Announces the Completion of SunAmp Power Project for Arizona National Guard

RIVERSIDE, Calif., Feb. 4, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- Southern States Power Company, Inc. (Pink Sheets:SSPC), today announced that its subsidiary company, SunAmp Power Company, Inc., has completed the Security and Safety Lighting for Arizona's National Guard under the U.S. Department of Defense and Homeland Security Act.

The Arizona National Guard's Camp Navajo (www.camp-navajo.org), located in Bellemont, Arizona, contracted SunAmp to provide solar photovoltaic (PV) security lighting using BP Solar panels (www.bp.com). The 22 Cobrahead street lights for the Camp Navajo are powered by dual BP Solar's 75-watt solar panel modules and controlled by SunAmp's proprietary state-of-the-art lighting controllers.

"These lights have the capability of operating all night using the technology in deep cycle batteries and Magnaray's Cobrahead street lights. In a military setting, which must have the highest level of safety and security, brightening the dark areas with dependable, renewable lighting could not be a more critical function," commented Jon Walker, SunAmp's CEO.

"The use of renewable energy such as Solar PV, Solar Thermal and the potential of biodiesel power generation for security and safety at Camp Navajo may continue to open doors for SunAmp Power Company into the U.S. Department of Defense (DOD) and Department of Homeland Security. The combination of Sun Amp's business relationship with BP Solar and SSPC's similar relationship with Shell Solar (www.shellsolar.com) has created virtually unlimited opportunities for the development of hybrid renewable energy systems," said Harrison A. McCoy, III CEO and Chairman of SSPC.
