Europeiske operatører lanserer den nye merkevaren "Starmap mobile alliance" og sømløse tjenester.


 Medlemmene, bl.a. Telenor Mobil i Norge, vil gradvis innarbeide Starmap som merkevare og logo i markedet for å gjøre det enkelt for kunder og leverandører å identifisere seg med alliansen. Målet er at tjenester på tvers av allianselandene skal utfylle medlemmenes tilbud i hvert enkelt land.
 
På bakgrunn av det arbeidet som allerede er gjort i alliansen med å løse tekniske utfordringer og inngå kommersielle avtaler operatørene imellom, nyter kundene nå godt av GPRS- og MMS-roaming. I tillegg får kunder  tilgang til kjente tjenester som mobilsvar og kortnummer mens de er på reise i de andre allianselandene. Faste roamingpriser for bedriftskunder er allerede introdusert i flere land. Operatørene vil også støtte en felles kvalitetsstandard for tjenester i bedriftsmarkedet.
 
I tillegg samarbeider medlemmene om utvikling og definisjon av 3G telefoner. Det er inngått en felles distribusjonsavtale for  Xda II Pocket PC på tvers av alliansenettverket. Xda II gir kunder på farten mulighet til å bruke tjenester med video, fargebilder og internettapplikasjoner.
 
"Mobilalliansen Starmap har introdusert et sømløst miljø for sine kunder, og ønsker å videreutvikle samarbeidet til fordel for de kunder som stadig er på farten. Under den nye  felles merkevaren skal vi bygge nye tjenester, skape økt samhandling mellom våre leverandører, samt tilby attraktive tjenester for våre bedrifts- og privatkunder. Målet er å styrke deres "home-away-from-home" opplevelse," sier Joaquin Mollinedo, styreformann i mobilalliansen Starmap.
 
Mobilalliansen Starmap består i dag av ni medlemmer: Amena (Spania), O2 (Tyskland, Storbritannia og Irland), One (Østerrike), Pannon GSM (Ungarn), sunrise (Sveits), Telenor Mobil (Norge) og Wind (Italia). Det totale antallet abonnenter  i alliansen er over 41 millioner. Under ledelse av et styre med representanter fra hver operatør, samarbeider mobilalliansen Starmap om å tilby innovative, attraktive og enkle tjenester. Alliansen gir sine kunder en økt 'home-away-from-home' opplevelse med den brukervennlighet og kvalitet på tjenestene som kundene er vant til i sitt eget land. Mobilalliansen Starmap samarbeider også innen innkjøp, teknologi og salg til større bedriftskunder.

ONE
In October 1998, the communications company ONE (ONE GmbH) launched Austria's only nation-wide GSM-1800 mobile telephony network. At the beginning of January 2004, ONE had about 1,200 employees and about 1.8 million customers  (1.48 million mobile, 145,000 fixed line and 150,000 Internet customers). ONE is the only mobile telephony operator in Austria to offer HSCSD (ONE High Speed), GPRS and UMTS. On 1 July 2003, with ONE WLAN the company launched the most dense hotspot network in all of Austria from one provider.  ONE places its focus on service, product development and usability, and with ONE SMILE it offers its customers an innovative and easy to use interface. The ONE billing process was certified in October 2003 in accordance with ISO 9001:2000 requirements. ONE has a population coverage of 98%. Turnover in 2002 amounted to approximately € 619.7 million. By the end of 2002, the company had invested a total of  € 1.65 billion. ONE is owned by the German E.ON (50.10%), the Norwegian Telenor (17.45%), the French Orange (17.45%) and the Danish TDC (15%).

Pannon GSM
Pannon GSM, owned 100% by Telenor Mobile Norway, had by the end of 2003 approximately 36% share of the Hungarian mobile market, where the penetration  exceeds 78%. Pannon GSM for already 10 years offers wide range of telecommunication services to customers from individual consumers to large size companies as well. Services can be voice or data services (for example HSCSD), based on dual-band GSM (900 and 1800), GPRS and recently EDGE technology. By the end of January 2004, the company had GSM roaming agreements with 271 mobile operators in 111 countries.
