Nokia Mediamaster 260 C receiver offers new ways to enjoy and share digital content

Hanover, Germany - Nokia introduces the Nokia Mediamaster 260 C digital cable television receiver, a Personal Digital Recorder giving consumers new ways to enjoy digital television, radio and self-created images. Following the previously unveiled Nokia Mediamaster 260 terrestial and satellite receivers, the new Nokia Mediamaster 260 C digital cable receiver expands the world of television with the ability to 'pause live TV', tapelessly record entertainment and create Image Albums for personal images transferred from camera phones supporting Bluetooth wireless technology (version 1.1 object push profile). Shipments of the Nokia Mediamaster 260 C will start in the early 2nd quarter 2004 in Europe.

Based on Digital Video Broadcast (DVB) standards, the Nokia Mediamaster 260 C provides access to all digital free-to-air television and radio entertainment available in the cable networks. The Nokia Mediamaster 260 C also gives consumers the choice to subscribe to additional channels from various Pay TV operators through a Common Interface module and embedding the Conaxä conditional access system.

"By offering consumers so many innovative ways to share and enjoy digital content - from personal images to favorite television and radio programs - on their TV in the comfort of the living room with family and friends, the Nokia Mediamaster 260 products play a central role in the digital home," said Petri Launiainen, Vice President for Home Products in the Multimedia Business Group of Nokia. "The Nokia Mediamaster 260 receivers bring all this together with Nokia's signature design, quality and ease-of-use."

The Personal Digital Recorder works like a traditional Video Cassette Recorder (VCR) but without tapes and includes advanced features such as the ability to 'pause live TV' in case of phone calls or other interruptions.  Freeing viewers to choose when they want to watch, the built in 80-gigabyte hard disk can record more than 40 hours of digital quality news, entertainment, music, sports, family and other programming.

Consumers can view their own digital images from camera phones on the TV screen and create personal Image Albums with Sub-Folders to organize and hold more than 3,000 images. Sharing memories is made more fun by viewing the images as a slide show. The digital images can be transferred from any camera phone supporting wireless Bluetooth technology, such as the Nokia 3650, Nokia 3660, Nokia 6600, Nokia 7600, Nokia 7610, Nokia 7700 and Nokia 9500, to the Mediamaster 260.

Contemporary and attractively designed, the Nokia Mediamaster 260 C is suited for the home environment.  The compact receiver features a titanium grey flap and cabinet, and metallized buttons.

Ease-of-use is assured with the enhanced onscreen Nokia Navi(TM) Bars user menu and electronic program guide (EPG), allowing rapid navigation between TV, the Image Album and tapeless recordings. To simplify channel searching, up to eight personal favorite lists can be created from a memory of hundreds of channels. The Nokia Mediamaster 260 C supports Dolby(TM)Digital (Bitstream Out) and the wide-screen format.
