Nokia demonstrates the best of mobility for work, play and on the go at CTIA Wireless 2004

ATLANTA -Nokia is demonstrating the many ways in which wireless technology is changing how people work, play and stay connected while on the go. Visitors to Nokia's booth (number 2547) at CTIA Wireless 2004 in Atlanta will experience the advanced technology Nokia is deploying and enabling that are mobilizing life whether at work, at play or on the go.

At Work: Nokia believes that business mobility will fundamentally change the way people work. Engineered for the mobile workforce, Nokia is showing the new Nokia 9500 Communicator for the first time in the United States at CTIA Wireless 2004. Additionally, demonstrations of remote personal information manager (PIM) synchronization, remote email, and secure connectivity solutions underscore the ways that wireless technology is freeing the enterprise from the boundaries of an office environment.

The Nokia 9500 Communicator exemplifies how innovative technologies are converging to meet specific demands. Designed to fulfill the stringent needs of the corporate user, the Symbian OS-based Nokia 9500 Communicator features office tool support, advanced security tools, Bluetooth technology and both wide-area EDGE and local-area Wi-Fi connectivity.

Other demonstrations include the Nokia One Mobile Connectivity Service which provides easy and secure access to email, calendar, directory and more through a variety of methods, and the Nokia Access Mobilizer which gives enterprise users full wireless access to email, attachments, corporate intranets and the Web on any browser-enabled mobile device. Also being shown are SyncML-based synchronization applications that allow users to keep their personal information up to date on both fixed and mobile devices.

At Play: Gaming, imaging, music and video take center stage as Nokia takes entertainment mobile. New titles and exciting multi-player options are being demonstrated on the Nokia N-Gage game deck, while imaging enters an enhanced level of quality with the new megapixel Nokia 7610 camera phone. MP3/AAC player capability, FM radio functionality and streaming video for a true multimedia experience are all showcased on the new CDMA Nokia 6255 phone as well as several other Nokia devices.

In the Nokia N-Gage area of the booth visitors can experience the innovation of multi-player wireless gaming with N-Gage Arena, the online community that connects gamers over a cellular network, and Bluetooth connectivity.  Both allow multiple players to experience head-to-head gaming without wires, and are available for visitors to try out for themselves.

Enhanced quality imaging and new ways of sharing images are the focus of Nokia's imaging exhibition area. Being shown for the first time in the Americas and featuring megapixel resolution is the new Series 60-based Nokia 7610 camera phone. Megapixel resolution cameras provide crisp, high-quality images.

A number of Nokia enhancements being featured in at CTIA provide unique ways to save and share images, either on a television, in an electronic frame, or even in a piece of modern jewelry. Bluetooth-enabled printers and photo kiosks for creating high-quality prints will also be on display.

On the Go: Nokia is also showcasing the technologies and platforms that are enabling the new world of mobility that is taking shape. Open development platforms that create an environment in which new wireless applications can reach their maximum potential - for both handsets and network elements - are being demonstrated at the Nokia booth during CTIA Wireless 2004.

A number of Nokia's handsets using the industry-leading Series 60 platform, including the Nokia 3600 Series, Nokia 6620 and Nokia 7610 imaging phones and the Nokia N-Gage game deck, are available for demonstration on the show floor. In addition, the Nokia Developer Pavilion is showcasing a wide array of applications that take advantage of the power of the Series 60 platform, including mobile game applications and productivity and business applications.

As one of the founding members of the Open Base Station Architecture Initiative, Nokia is also pleased to announce a new family of base station modules designed for WCDMA, EDGE and CDMA2000 base station vendors.  The FlexiTransport modules are technology agnostic, built on open interfaces, and support both existing ATM networks as well as emerging IP networks.  Base station vendors can now maximize their own R&D investments while utilizing the advanced capabilities of this new FlexiTransport solution from Nokia enabling faster delivery of flexible, scalable, cost-efficient modules for existing and future base stations.
