Saab signs contract for anti-ship missile armament for German Navy

LINKOPING, Sweden, March 26, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- Saab Bofors Dynamics has signed a contract with the German shipyards Blohm + Voss, Fr. Lurssen Werft and Nordseewerke regarding the integration of the anti-ship missile system RBS15 Mk3 for the German Navy new corvettes of K 130 class. The contract value is approximately 120 million SEK (-13 million Euros).

"Once again the integration of RBS15 Mk3 on-board the German Navy corvettes is a proof of trust for this anti-ship missiles system. The fact that the German Navy selects RBS15 Mk3 is encouraging for continuing international business," says Mr Tomas Samuelsson, President Saab Bofors Dynamics.

A contract for an initial number of missiles is expected at the end of this year. The ships are expected to be delivered to the German Navy starting 2007.

RBS15 Mk3 is a further developed missile of RBS15 family, which are operational with the Royal Swedish Navy and the Navies of several other countries. The main differences to earlier versions are longer range and significantly increased navigational accuracy.

Besides Germany and Sweden, also Poland has selected the RBS15 Mk3 as anti-ship missile armament.
