Vodafone Sweden Lowers Its Mobile Data Traffic Prices

STOCKHOLM, Sweden, April 6, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- Vodafone Sweden is now following up the successful launch of its new 3G datacard by lowering its mobile data traffic prices as from today. This means that Vodafone's customers get unbeatable value when accessing e- mail, calendars, the Internet and company networks from their laptops when working away from the office.

Vodafone launched its 3G Mobile Connect Card service on 23 February this year. It has garnered a tremendous response from customers who have appreciated its user-friendliness and the high data transfer speed. There have, however, been requests for price adjustments that will enable customers to exploit even more fully the 3G network's numerous advantages for mobile workers.

"We are responding to our customers' needs, and are now lowering our mobile data transfer prices to give customers even better value for money. We have made the tariffs for high-volume data users particularly attractive," says Anders Sjoholm, Commercial Director Business at Vodafone Sweden.

One of the advantages of these new prices is that the two largest data packages that are included as options to the 3G card, i.e. the 50 Megabyte (MB) data package and the 150 MB data package - have been reduced to SEK 280/month and SEK 560/month respectively. This means, for example, that the price per incoming/outgoing megabyte in the largest data package is reduced by 38 per cent to as little as SEK 3.73. This will in turn allow users to send around 100 normal-sized e-mails (10 kb/e-mail) for that price. What's more, users of the 150 MB data package only pay SEK 4 for each additional used MB over and above the bundled 150 MB (all the specified prices exclude VAT).

"Our 3G datacard functions both as a complement and extension to the rest of the company's data infrastructure and offers users a unique, fast way of receiving and sending critical information when they need it the most, regardless of time and place. Our new data tariff makes it even more affordable for customers to fully exploit all the advantages of the 3G network, and make their work more efficient and flexible," he says.

These price reductions apply from 6 April and are extended to both new and existing customers. Vodafone is also lowering its standard prices for incoming/outgoing traffic in the GPRS network to SEK 16 per megabyte (excluding VAT). This price applies to both corporate and consumer customers.
