VANCOUVER, B.C., Canada, April 27, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- Further to the press release dated April 19, 2004, which related to electron microprobe analysis of crushed rock samples, Diamond Discoveries International Corp. (OTCBB:DMDD) is pleased to announce that it has received an additional report from Robert Dillman APGO on the results of an examination of forty (40) heavy mineral concentrates taken from stream gravels on it's Torngat Diamond property in northeastern Quebec. Seventeen (17) of the samples contain minerals derived from kimberlite or aillikite sources situated very close to the sample sites.
Mineral grains in the heavy mineral concentrates which are mantle-derived and diagnostic of kimberlite or aillikite include: pyrope garnet, chrome diopside, andradite garnet, olivine, phlogopite and perovskite. Minerals grains identified in the heavy mineral concentrates which could be derived from eclogite nodules contained in kimberlite or aillikite include: orange garnet, green clinopyroxenes, pink and orange corundum.
Based on the identification of minerals associated directly with kimberlite and aillikite, further sampling and source identification is recommended in the vicinity to the sample sites. Particular focus should be given to the pyrope-bearing sample which is believed to be taken close to a kimberlite source. Focus should also be directed on sample sites which contain chrome diopside occurring as nodules and as inclusions in olivine. Both samples are believed to represent aillikite situated very close to the sample sites.
All three rock types indicated by these mineral assemblages, kimberlite, aillikite and eclogite are known to host economic diamond deposits.
