STOCKHOLM, Sweden, April 29, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- Munters has received an order for 9 precooling systems for large Siemens gas turbines (250 MW) for electric power generation from the Italian electricity group ENEL. The units will be installed in four power plants.
This is Munters first delivery of preecooling systems to ENEL, who operates the majority of all Italian power plants. The output and efficiency of a gas turbine is strongly dependent on the temperature of the inlet air. Munters preecooling systems cool the inlet air and will in this case increase the output of each turbine by 4% during hot summer days, which will help to avoid black-out situations as experienced last year in Italy.
Wulf Kraneis, Subdivision Manager, Munters Germany, says "We received the order because of our application know-how and the technical advantages our new design offers, for example the continuous regulation of the water flow which makes it possible to more precisely regulate the temperature of the inlet air."
The main part of the systems will be delivered during the second quarter 2004.
