Calypso Wireless Opens Second Research and Development Center in U.S.

MIAMI LAKES, Fla., May 4, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- Calypso Wireless, Inc. (OTCBB:CLYW) announced today it has opened a research and development (R&D) center in Akron, Ohio. The facility will play a key role in overseeing the production of Calypso's real time two-way video conferencing cellular phones and other mobile devices utilizing Calypso's revolutionary patented ASNAP(tm) technology. It will assist in the deployment of mobile phones and software products that incorporate the ASNAP(tm). The center will also focus on developing additional Wi-Fi and cellular solutions based on Calypso's patented technology.

Michael Stocker, Vice President of Research and Development at the new Calypso R&D Center said that worldwide WLAN service revenues are expected to top $9.5 billion by 2007. Over 400 million cellular phones are sold every year. "We believe that our patented technology is the solution with huge potential in this arena. An agreement with a major carrier is only the first step but we think it's a significant step," Stocker said.

Calypso's patented Communication System and Method is the only system that allows a Mobile Carrier to hand off their mobile users to a broadband wireless network and not lose the connection. Calypso recently signed a field trial agreement with Mobifon, an associate of Vodafone. "This includes authentication and identification for revenue sharing between the Access Point Owners, such as Starbucks (Nasdaq:SBUX) and McDonalds restaurants (NYSE:MCD), Mobile Carriers such as Vodafone, and Cingular Wireless, ISP's (Internet Service Providers) such as cables companies and the owner and licensor of the technology: Calypso Wireless."

Stocker says the agreement to install the patented ASNAP(tm) technology in Mobifon's network is a huge plus for Calypso when you understand the functionality of all that is involved. Field trials are major commitments for Carriers and/ or ISPs. Upon a successful trial the Mobile Carriers will thereafter purchase products and install the ASNAP(tm) technology into their networks. He also said the revenues from licensing Calypso's patented technology could be staggering. In addition to the Mobile Carriers and ISP's, Calypso is offering licensing agreements to OEM's (Original Equipment Manufacturer's) to install Calypso's patented technology in their cellular phones and Wi-Fi Access Points. "Calypso Wireless holds the key, the patent that will usher the Marriage of cellular and Wi-Fi into the future," says Stocker.
