FORT LEE, N.J., May 4, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- Whale Communications today announced that it has been recognized in the visionary quadrant in worldwide independent research and advisory firm Gartner Inc.'s prestigious Firewall Magic Quadrant report. The report looked at more than 20 vendors in the enterprise firewall space.
The report, titled "The Magic Quadrant for Enterprise Firewalls, 2H03", evaluated vendors based on their ability to execute and their vision of integrating network-and-application-level firewall capabilities. The report identified vendors that introduce new protection technologies on an extremely short production cycle. Additionally, it stated that it highly weighted a vendor's ability to decrypt SSL sessions, perform inspection and filtering and re-establish the SSL sessions.
The report noted that although Whale is focused on the SSL VPN market its technology can process and apply security policies to any payload traffic. It noted that many enterprises are attracted to its positive security model. Whale was also positioned as a visionary in Gartner's SSL VPN Magic Quadrant, published earlier in April.
"We are pleased that Gartner has positioned us as a visionary in two of its Magic Quadrants," said Daniel Steiner, president of Whale. "We continue to see heightened demand across large enterprises for an access solution that integrates networking and security in its offering. We believe Whale's positioning in the SSL VPN Magic Quadrant and the Enterprise Firewall Magic Quadrant reflects the convergence of networking and security and attests to our strategy of providing a comprehensive solution."
