CARLSBAD, Calif., May 10, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- Sub Surface Waste Management of Delaware, Inc. (OTCBB:SSWM), and its partner in Mexico, Grupo Bartlette de Mexico, S.A. DE C.V. (Grupo Bartlette), are now preparing cost submittals on bids for cleanup work throughout Mexico using patented bioremediation technologies recently approved by the Mexico's government.
In April 2004, SSWM and Grupo Bartlette, a subsidiary of Bartlette Inc. (www.bartletteinc.com), received official notification from Mexico's SEMARNAT agency that SSWM's licensed U.S. Patented bioremediation technologies were approved for use throughout Mexico for cleanup of soils and water impacted by petroleum hydrocarbon wastes.
Bruce Beattie, President of SSWM stated, "We want to clarify for shareholders and investors the magnitude of opportunity we foresee in Mexico as one of five registered and approved cleanup treatment technologies to date. We understand from our partners at Grupo Bartlett that PEMEX, the national petroleum company of Mexico, its subsidiaries companies and joint-venture partners, are currently preparing and soliciting requests for bids on capital projects to cleanup and remediate classified "hazardous" petroleum wastes from inadvertent spills and releases from operations in oil & gas exploration and production, petroleum refineries, pipeline distribution systems and tank farm storage facilities, nationwide. SSWM estimates that this potential cleanup market in Mexico may approximate US$500 Million over the next 12 months to 24 months. Our challenge, goal and opportunity are to capture with Grupo Bartlette a one to three percent market share in this developing potential market."
Beattie further commented, "Our current joint project in Mexico with Grupo Bartlette has proceeded very smoothly and the experience we have both gained and our new technology license should accelerate the number and the size of future contracts we win. We both look forward to an exciting future in Mexico as we help the country reach its cleanup goals."
