From Japanese owners Odfjell has chartered long-term two additional stainless steel tanker newbuildings of the 19,800 dwt. size with deliveries during 2006. The company has thereby committed to altogether eight long-term time-charter newbuildings from Japan with deliveries during 2004, 2005 and 2006.
At a price of USD 15 million en bloc the company has made an agreement to acquire three second-hand tankers from ChemLog Tankers Ltd. (a company related to ChemLog ApS), the M/T Maasslot L (38,039 dwt./built 1982), the M/T Maasstad L. (38,039/1983) and the M/T Maasstroom L (38,039/1983). Since mid 2000 the three ships have been operating in the Odfjell pool of parcel tankers. These ships will be primarily employed in the caustic and easier trades. At the time of delivery to Odfjell, the ships will be renamed Bow Maasslot, Bow Maasstad and Bow Maasstroom.
