Nearly 72 Hours Later, Cricket's Motor Mouth Marathon Competition Continues With Two Contestants in Albuquerque Still Talking

Contest Showcases Cricket Unlimited Long Distance Service, Benefits the Ronald McDonald House; Last Person Talking Drives Home a 2004 Mini Cooper, Wins a Cricket Phone and One Free Year of Cricket Unlimited Service

ALBUQUERQUE, May 24, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- Cricket Communications, Inc., the only wireless company offering unlimited local calling and domestic long distance service in 39 markets across the U.S. without signing a contract, kicked off its Motor Mouth Marathon contest in three cities in the U.S. including: Albuquerque, New Mexico; Nashville, Tenn.; and Omaha, Neb.

The contest began Friday, May 21st with four contestants in each market. Winners have been named in Omaha and Nashville but two Albuquerque/Santa Fe residents are still going strong. After nearly 72 hours, the two remaining contestants, Kathy Jackson and Trudy Abeyta, are vying for the grand prize -- a 2004 Mini Cooper, a Cricket(r) phone, one free year of Cricket Unlimited service and a $5,000 donation in their name to the Albuquerque Ronald McDonald House.

"We are amazed at their stamina and there are no signs of either one of them quitting anytime soon," said Dennis Maguire, Area General Manager of Cricket for New Mexico and Southern Arizona. "They have a lot of support from family and friends. We're thrilled to have them help get the word out that when we say we offer unlimited long distance service, we mean it. Customers can talk as long as they want for one, low flat fee."

The competition is being held at the McDonald's at Coors & Quail in Albuquerque. Mobile phones, food and comfortable green couches are being provided. Contestants must adhere to rules such as no sleeping, reading, singing, and no lulls in conversation for more than 10 seconds. Participants are being monitored by a judge on a three-way call to ensure they continue to talk back and forth for 55 minutes of every hour, until the contest winner is announced.

Contestants were selected by a random drawing. The last person talking will be awarded the grand prize. The three runners-up will receive a free Cricket phone and Cricket Unlimited(TM) service for one year.

A fourth Motor Mouth Marathon competition is being held in Dayton, Ohio, this Sunday, May 30, 2004.

In March, Cricket unveiled Cricket Unlimited(TM), providing customers in Albuquerque and Santa Fe unlimited anytime local, U.S. long distance (except Alaska) and text messaging services, including several other voice features, for just $49.99 per month plus taxes and fees. With Cricket Unlimited(TM), Cricket is the first wireless carrier to offer a complete package of unlimited anytime local, long distance and text messaging services without requiring the customer to sign a long-term service contract.

No purchase is necessary, and complete rules are available at Cricket retail locations and participating dealers.
