About the Author
After West Point, Colonel Hawk Kiefer spent twenty-five years in the military. He became a senior parachutist in the 101st and 82nd Airborne Divisions, and he commanded a battalion in Vietnam. He wears the Silver Star, the Legion of Merit, the Bronze Star for Valor, the Soldiers Medal, the Air Medal, and the Purple Heart, among others. His first book, Soldiers Never Sleep, was based on his family's experiences during the Indian Wars, and his second, Sandy's War, was about his experience in Vietnam. His current book, The Ninth River, centers on his service in Saudi Arabia, Jordan, and Lebanon.
