MALMO, Sweden, June 08, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- Teleca has today released version 3.00A of its Bluetooth(R) protocol stack, Teleca tblue(TM), which complies with version 1.2 of the Bluetooth specification and has new support for both the Human Interface Device (HID) and Dial-Up Networking (DUN) profiles. The demand for this type of protocol stack is rising steadily as Bluetooth technology is increasingly used in new applications.
Since taking it over from IAR Systems in March 2004 Teleca has refined and improved the Teleca tblue product (formally known as the Embedded Bluetooth Protocol Stack from IAR Systems). Among other things, Teleca tblue's processor power and memory capacity requirements have been designed to be as small as possible, which means it is especially suitable for small high-functionality devices.
Teleca tblue version 3.00A contains the following main additions and improvements:
- Support for Bluetooth specification version 1.2, which improves coexistence with other wireless communication technologies, such as wireless LAN. Other improved functionality includes securer data communication and better sound quality for applications such as mobile telephony hands-free solutions. - Human Interface Device (HID) profile, which enables Bluetooth to be used for wireless communication between a device such as a keyboard, mouse or joystick and a computer. - Dial-Up Networking (DUN) profile, which enables, for example, a computer to use Bluetooth to communicate with a mobile phone and use it as a remote-access modem.
Teleca tblue is supplied with a graphical configuration tool that makes it easier to choose and configure the parts of the Bluetooth protocol stack that will be used in the product under development. The tool then generates ready-to-use source code that is integrated with the product's software. At the same time documentation is generated that forms a vital part of the process of obtaining product approval from the Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG).
"Teleca tblue is an efficient and versatile Bluetooth protocol stack that can be used in almost any processor environment," says Johan Wallin, sales manager at Teleca Systems AB. "The product requires minimal memory capacity and processor power, which means our customers can cut component costs and increase their profitability."
Teleca will be demonstrating Teleca tblue at Wireless Connectivity (WiCon) World in Amsterdam on 8-10 June. Please visit us at stand 806.
