PocketSpec Technologies Inc. Announces New Significant Markets for Tanning Products and Software

DENVER, June 14, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- PocketSpec Technologies Inc. (OTCBB:PKSP) announced the appointment of Jim Humphries of Hybrid Intelligent Technology, Liverpool, England, to pursue new markets for PocketSpec's tanning industry products and software.

Laser Surgery is the first market as Mr. Humphries has recently delivered PocketSpec's Bronzv(r) device to a leading producer of laser surgery instruments, who believes the device may be easily adapted as a skin typing tool to sell with its surgical instruments. Results are not yet concluded, but if successful, at least 1,000 devices are expected to be sold, according to discussions.

The other market which Mr. Humphries will immediately pursue, is the presentation of PocketSpec's tanning industry technology to the UK tanning industry association. Mr. Humphries believes a perfect window of opportunity exists for PocketSpec to provide a tool to scientifically monitor and protect against over exposure to UV (Ultra Violet Light).

Japan's tanning association industry (JSA) has already purchased 120 of the Bronzv(r) devices for some of its members.

The situation is critical to the tanning industry worldwide with increasing medical industry and consumer publications of negative information, and skin cancer risks associated to UV exposure, as well as legislative attempts fought hard by tanning industries such as the ITA, the Indoor Tanning Association in the US.

PocketSpec would like to provide the needed tools of self-regulation instead of industry feared government regulation.

The Bronzv(r) device, launched in November 2002, sells for $349.00 (US), and is used to measure how a client is getting more or less tan, represented by a TanTone(tm) number from Zero to 1,000. In November 2003, the TanTone(tm) System was launched. This software system, built by tanning industry software developer, Interactive Designs, Inc. (IDI), increases versatility by allowing a salon to store client records, TanTone(tm) numbers, and graph tanning progress. An easy automated skin-typing questionnaire in also included. The TanTone(tm) System is $699.00 (US).

The UV exposure fear has spawned a boom in the spray tanning industry, called "Sunless Tanning", and some manufactures of these tanning systems and salons that use them have embraced PocketSpec's TanTone(tm) System and the Bronzv(r) device as a method of programming Sunless Tanning schedules.

PocketSpec is especially positioned to immediately modify its software to incorporate in the new markets. This is due to a recent agreement with IDI that transferred 100% ownership to the source code used in the stand-alone TanTone(tm) System to PocketSpec, in exchange for PocketSpec's agreement to continue selling USB version Bronzv(r) devices to IDI, which it sells with its salon management software -- SalonTouch and SunTouch Plus. Now PocketSpec may further develop, refine, license and sell its software, with a significant timing advantage.

PocketSpec is launching a worldwide promotion of the TanTone(tm) System and is offering to distributors quantity purchases in a choice of languages. PocketSpec's software partner Logicol S.r.l. of Italy plans to make the needed language changes and other changes to address the needs of these new markets.

An on-line demonstration can be seen of the English language version of the TanTone(tm) System at www.tantone.net.
