Performance Series and Achievement Series from Scantron Selected for Intel Model School Program as Assessment Resources

IRVINE, Calif., June 15, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- Scantron, in partnership with Intel, today announced that Scantron Performance Series(TM) and Scantron Achievement Series(TM) -- Web-based assessment systems that increase flexibility and efficiency of test development and reporting -- have been selected for the Intel Model School Program, which is a showcase for cutting-edge technology for schools.

The Intel Model School Program (www.intel.com/modelschool) showcases exemplary technology resources that schools can look to for best-in-breed solutions for hardware, software, instructional and assessment needs. The program gives educators an informational site to research solutions for technology and instruction by following a road-map of suggested products, all from selected vendors which are highly respected in the education marketplace.

"We are pleased to add Scantron to our list of partners in the Intel Model Schools Program which has become a solution center for education," said Terry Smithson, Intel Education Strategist and Marketing Manager. "Performance Series and Achievement Series are market leaders for test management and delivery and they offer schools a comprehensive solution to monitor and report student achievement."

Performance Series is a computer-adaptive, standards-based assessment system that measures the different academic strands of individual state standards. It gives immediate diagnostic information that teachers can use to inform instruction and it provides robust reporting features to track individual and group performance data.

Achievement Series, also Web-based, is a testing engine designed to help educators develop and deploy tests, capture results and manage the vital information needed to make data-driven decisions and help guide instruction in the classroom. Achievement series is content-neutral and can easily incorporate content provided by third-party publishers.

"The Intel Model School Program is a showcase for the best educational technology solutions available today and it is gratifying to be included in this select list of progressive companies," said Tim Loomer, President of Scantron Testing and Assessment. "We are constantly striving to develop relevant products for today's educator. Scantron's technology applications are designed for the fast, accurate and reliable capture of student performance data necessary to impact instruction and inform leadership."
