CHANTILLY, Va., June 18, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- American Systems Corporation (ASC) has been named to the 2004 VARBusiness 500, ranking 157 in the information technology industry's prestigious list of top 500 Solution Providers in North America, based on 2003 revenues. ASC moved up from its 2003 ranking of 206.
The official rankings were announced and various awards were presented Tuesday night at the 2004 VARBusiness 500 ceremony at the Rockefeller Center's Rainbow Room in New York. The list of 500 and details about North America's top solution providers are published in the June 14 issue of VARBusiness.
The annual event, now in its fourth year, recognized some of the biggest and brightest companies in the reseller channel. Resellers were commended for financial excellence, technology expertise, revenue growth and vertical-market domination in 2003. After experiencing one of the toughest years in the business in 2002, many VARs are putting the economic downturn behind them and returning to growth and expansion.
The 500 companies are the leading revenue producers among approximately 90,000 solution provider organizations and account for $324 billion in sales of information-technology (IT) services and products.

To complete the 2004 ranking of the 500 largest North American solution providers, VARBusiness partnered with research firms Bernett Research and Answers Research to help collect and analyze the data. VARBusiness designed the survey, which was administered on its Web site from early February through mid-April, as a means to collect the data.
ASC was among 62 firms in the $100 million to $999 million category that posted double-digit sales increases in 2003. ASC's President and CEO, Elliot Needleman commented, "2003 was an excellent year for us, with substantial increases in revenue from DoD contracts and homeland security projects.
