BELLINGHAM, Wash., July 7, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- Golden Spirit Minerals Ltd. (OTCBB:GSPM) announces that the summer work program on the Ester Creek properties located in Fairbanks, Alaska will commence in late July. The Ester Creek Mining Claims consist of mining claims over an area of approximately 2,320 acres over (4 square miles).
The property is located on and around a highly mineralized earthern dome structure (Ester Dome) in the heart of the famous Tintina Gold Belt of Alaska. Another mineralized dome (Gilmore Dome) located approximately 15 miles northeast of Ester Dome is the location of the now famous Ft. Knox gold deposit and home to one of the largest operating gold mines in Alaska. The Tintina Gold Belt has been the focus of extensive gold exploration by many major world-class mining companies over the past decade. During that period, gold resources have exceeded 23 million ounces of gold from ten different deposits located around Ester Dome and Gilmore Dome.
The Ester Creek drainage has been the number-one producer of gold, second only to a creek in the Brooks Range of Alaska above the Arctic Circle. The Ester Mining District has yielded more gold than the rest of Alaska combined, according to the University of Alaska Mining Department, Kinross Gold's (NYSE:KGC) $800 million-plus, year-round gold mine is on Gilmore Dome.
The work program will consist of the following:
- sampling and mapping the altered bedrock fragments found in tailing pipes on the eastern margin of the claim group - examining and sampling the intrusive rock located on the south slope to Ester Creek in section 11-12 - mapping geology on north facing slope in central Section 12 which is underlain by a magnetic low field - examining and sampling as appropriate the WSW linear feature on Hill 1516, Section 11 - collecting heavy mineral concentrate from lower-most Moose Gulch and testing for skarn-type minerals suggested to be present by the magnetic high field in the vicinity - examining and resampling previously reported gold anomaly in Section 11 on the NB-2 claim - mapping bedrock and colluvium on uppermost Ester Creek
This work program is specifically targeted towards showing the occurrence of gold values in possible lode sources, an important step in determining future exploration.
Shareholders will be informed on a regular basis over the coming weeks on the progress made on the Golden Spirit Minerals Ltd. portfolio of gold properties.
