STOCKHOLM, Sweden, July 09, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- Vodafone Sweden's customers can now experience the power of Vodafone live! with 3G. Starting 9 July, Vodfone's industry leading multi media consumer service will also be available via Vodafone Sweden's 3G network. An attractive promotional offer makes it easy and rewarding for Vodafone's customers to try the new services. Among other valuable benefits, the promotional offer includes up to 120 free minutes for video calls each month to all networks in Sweden.
Vodafone Sweden opened its 3G network to its corporate customers in February this year by offering Europe's first 3G data card - Vodafone Mobile Connect 3G. Now it's our private customers' turn to experience the potential of 3G via Vodafone live!
The range of communication services in Vodafone live! will be even broader with 3G, bringing consumers sound, pictures and videos, as well as increased speed when downloading games and ringtones. They will also be able to access a select range of new services such as video calling, video downloads (sport, news, music and general entertainment) as well as existing services such as video messaging.
Vodafone launched Vodafone live! in the autumn of 2002, and was the first mobile operator in Europe to offer its customers a holistic concept with packaged services and integrated camera phones for simple and enjoyable mobile communication. Today, there are more than 20 millions of Vodafone live! users around the world.
"We have offered our customers a very broad range of communications since the start of Vodafone live! - particularly with a focus on picture messaging. Vodafone live! will become even broader with 3G where users will also be able to communicate with video calling - and thereby see the caller for a more dynamic and intimate experience. Vodafone live! with 3G will be enhanced later this year, when there will be a wider selection of handsets available, together with an even more extensive range of content," says Paul Moonga, Director of Consumer Marketing at Vodafone Sweden.
Vodafone Sweden initially offers Vodafone live! services customized for two 3G phones - Samsung Z105 and Sony Ericsson Z1010 - which function in both Vodafone's 3G network and GSM network.
Attractive trial-period price for video calls Vodafone live! with 3G is offered via Vodafone's existing "My Choice" subscription structure, which includes 60 or 120 free voice minutes each month to all networks in Sweden. During the summer everybody that subscribes to "My Choice" can call other Vodafone Sweden customers for only 50 ore/voice call (0.50 SEK) - around the clock, every day of the week.
Vodafone has a very attractive introduction offer for its 3G customers, which implies:
- that they get just as many free minutes for video calling as they do for voice calls each month in their subscription - up to 120 free video minutes to all networks in Sweden. After the bundle of free minutes, a video call will then cost the same low price as for a normal voice call - which means that Vodafone's customers can make a video call in the evening and weekends for only 99 ore to all networks in Sweden.
- that they get 20 MB data free of charge per month, which they can use to browse the Vodafone live! portal to discover a variety of content services, such as news, sport, games, entertainment and music, or when they use the 3G mobile as a high speed computer modem.
The introductory offer for Vodafone live! with 3G will run through the end of the year for customers who sign before 31 October. Service prices will otherwise be the same as in My Choice.
"We are initially and primarily targeting our customers who have shown considerable interest in joining Vodafone live! with 3G. It is natural to offer an introductory price for our new service video calls. Later this year, we will offer more 3G mobiles and an even broader range of services adapted to our 3G network," says Paul Moonga.
Initially, Vodafone Sweden has 3G roaming agreements with seven countries, most of them popular holiday destinations. Roaming agreements with further more countries will follow during the summer. Vodafone's customers will in these 3G areas abroad for example be able to call home with video. Otherwise, their mobile will function as normal via the GPRS network - enabling them to send fantastic pictures or video messages directly from a mobile phone from countries where Vodafone has a GPRS roaming agreement.
Vodafone live! mobiles Samsung Z105 and Sony Ericsson Z1010 can be purchased at selected Vodafone stores and dealers.
