ATLANTA, July 13, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- Superior Essex Inc. (OTCBB:SESX) announced today the introduction of two new communications cable products designed for the residential marketplace. Taken together, the CM-rated Category 5e and 60%-shield Series 6 Coaxial cable products fully support the high-speed data and video transmission rates demanded in new homes, and do so more economically than cables designed for commercial environments. Both the Category 5e cable and coax cable products are available in the Company's POP(r) box package, which allows the cable to be pulled from the box without tension and without the need for a spool or reel that would require disposal.

"The CM rated Category 5e cable also includes our popular QuickCount(r) feature. This unique cable footage marking system shows the exact footage remaining in the box as it is pulled, resulting in material savings."
The 60% shield coaxial cable has been designed to support applications that require 2.2 GHz bandwidth, a frequency that is well beyond the 1 GHz limit that most residential coax cable products stop at. The new 60% shield coax cable complements the existing quad shield coax line from Superior Essex. Both the coax product line and the Category 5e cable product line are being offered through authorized distributors of Superior Essex.
