The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) recognized in 2002 the STS certification program issued by the CCHEST. Since then, many companies have not only encouraged, but also required their supervisory staff to receive and renew this certification on a yearly basis.
In 2002, Kvaerner Songer's management made a committed goal to have all their supervisors STS certified. The awarded plaque displays the total number of STS certifications completed for 2003. We are committed to continue adding more certifications in 2004. Along with the plaque, Kvaerner Songer received letter of appreciation detailing the benefits of becoming a sponsor.
The benefits include evaluation of worker's jobsite knowledge, demonstrated competency of workers by examination and an accredited, national credential. It also includes increased worker safety awareness, reduced workers' compensation expense and the ability to track participation and success of candidates.
