STOCK COMMENTARY:Before we get to the main topic of today's commentary, we want to point out that we are still, basically, "bearish" on the markets. Remember what we said last Thursday, "From a technical standpoint, the markets are still overbought. RSI, Stochastics, and MACD all indicate MORE downside. We think that's a good thing because it will allow the 'patient' trader to get in at lower prices on some key stocks."

Today's move down brought the S&P to a critical juncture. Our opinion remains that downside pressure exists and stop/losses are more important at this time than targets.

We received an email today that asks this question, "I enjoy reading the commentaries and other reports. However, the ratings you provide seem to be more for short-term trading than long-term investing. How can the reports help me since I am a long-term investor?"

That's a wonderful question. StockPickReport ratings are short-term indicators that provide "buy" or "sell" ratings. These ratings can be used to help find a good time to either enter or exit a position in a stock.

Now, let's say, for example, that you like Cisco Systems (Nasdaq:CSCO) as a "long term" investment. Your "long term" outlook is generally "up". But, you want to know when the best time to buy would be for maximum gains downstream. You could use our rating as a guide.

The same is true if you've held a stock for a while and want to get a feel for when a good time to get out would be. You could use our ratings to help find an "exit". Using the CSCO example, we began with a "sell" rating a couple days ago and the stock is down a point or so. If you wanted a better time to buy, today would have been better than a couple days ago. If you wanted a good time to sell, a couple days ago would have been better than today.

These are just some of the ways that "long term" investors can use our stock ratings. In summary, if you want to find an "entry" or "exit" position on a stock, our ratings can help you with that whether you trade short, or long-term.
