KemFine Ltd, the former Kemira Fine Chemicals Oy, started operating its business under the new name and identity as of October 1st, 2004. This constitutes the final step of the acquisition process, where the new majority owner 3i (www.3i.com) and the management of the company acquired the business from Kemira Oyj.
KemFine Ltd will continue to focus on its current key business area of custom manufacturing of advanced intermediates and active ingredients for the agrochemical industry as well as GMP intermediates for the pharmaceutical industry. The Company will seek aggressive organic growth and potential add-on synergistic acquisitions under the new ownership.
KemFine Ltd's net sales totalled approx. EUR 50 million in the year 2003, and it employs approx. 170 persons in Kokkola, Espoo and Helsinki.
3i focuses on buyouts, growth capital and venture capital and invests across Europe, in the United States and in Asia Pacific. In the year to 31 March 2004, 3i invested EUR 1.5 billion.
