Mortsel / Belgium, 21 October 2004
The US government has awarded Agfa its DIN-PACS II (Digital Imaging Network/Picture Archiving and Communications System) contract. The contract initially runs for one year with an additional four option years, each potentially worth 36 million euros/45 million USD. This demonstrates the US government's confidence in Agfa as its primary supplier of image acquisition and archive solutions.
The DIN-PACS II contract, with a total potential value of 180 million euros/225 million USD over the full five years, confirms Agfa as the US government's supplier of choice for future purchases of Picture Archiving and Communications Systems (PACS), Computed Radiography / Direct Radiography (CR/DR), speech recognition, integration services and support contracts by the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, federal civilian agencies and the Veterans Administration. Included in the contract are Agfa solutions for Women's Care, Cardiology, Orthopaedics and beyond.
Over the past six years, Agfa has built a strong presence within the US government PACS market, with IMPAX(TM) installed in over 75 medical treatment facilities and some 30 ships at sea with Agfa solutions on board. Agfa recently announced that its PACS solutions are the first to achieve Department of Defense security certification and accreditation.
