LUND, Sweden, Oct. 29, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- Nippon Express, commonly known as Nittsu, a leading company in the Japanese transport industry, has introduced an Anoto enabled solution with digital pens to calculate costs for removals. During the initial phase the solution will be available to approximately one thousand users. Maxell provides the digital pens. The installation has started in October 2004.
By using a digital pen Nittsu will standardize its removal operations and improve customer reliability through a high-quality service. Nittsu will in addition accelerate the reduction of internal administration and work.
A Nittsu remover called a ``moving planner" carries a digital pen and a cost calculation form when visiting a customer. The written information, which is stored in the digital pen, can be transferred from the pen to the in-house information system as soon as the employee returns to the office. Subsequently, this information makes it possible to immediately determine delivery method, packing materials, track, number of removers required, and make a cost estimate. After signing an agreement with a customer, any related operations will be handled based on this system, such as controlling packing materials, allocating tracks or containers, managing removal staff, preparing work and delivery instructions, etc. `'In addition, customer information written with the digital pen will be stored in a database for further use by Nittsu, for example customer management, marketing, analyses and new product service development.
