The selection was made using a national survey of the home building community, sent out to readers of Builder and Big Builder magazines; the award was created by Hanley Wood, publisher of these and other publications. Nearly 600 people attended the awards luncheon, which was held at the Mandalay Bay Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. The event took place during Big Builder '04, a three-day event that drew industry leaders from across the country. It is limited to corporate and division executives from the top 1,000 home building companies.
The Big Builder Award was accepted by Gary Mayo, Vice President, Nevada.
