Nokia and Nico Rosberg join forces in the Macau Grand Prix

As one of the leading developers of automotive communications solutions, Nokia will be supporting Formula 3 racecar driver Nico Rosberg in his race on 21 November in Macau. His car will display the Nokia logo. The Macau Grand Prix, now in its 51st year, is regarded as the world final for the best Formula 3 drivers in the world.

"I am delighted to have Nokia's support for this race. Just as Nokia's innovative solutions put the company at the forefront in the field of automotive communications, it is my goal to be in the pole position at the Macau Grand Prix and of course to win the race," explained Nico Rosberg, who's just 19 years old.

At nine, Nico was already following in the footsteps of his father, Keke Rosberg, who made history as a legendary Formula 1 world champion. Nico started racing in 1996. Most recently, Nico, who was born in Germany and has Finnish and German citizenship, impressed with his performance competing in F3 Euroseries in 2003 and 2004. He finished the series fourth this year winning three races.

"Rapid progress is being made today in automotive communications. As one of the companies that has been setting the pace in this market for years now, sponsoring a speed-driven sport like the Formula 3, and especially the legendary Macau Grand Prix, was a natural choice. Another important factor for us was the opportunity to foster a promising young talent like Nico Rosberg. We'll be keeping our fingers crossed for him on the day of the race," said Vesa Perälä, Marketing Director, Nokia Automotive.
