RESTON, Va., Nov. 30, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE:NOC) has named Daniel L. Montgomery as corporate lead executive for the Huntsville, Ala. region. Montgomery also serves as vice president and deputy general manager of the Tactical Systems Division in Northrop Grumman's Mission Systems sector.

In his expanded role, Montgomery will serve as the principal corporate point of contact for Northrop Grumman's customers in Huntsville, coordinating corporate-wide resources to satisfy current and future customer needs. As the company's senior executive in Huntsville, he will also be responsible for all Northrop Grumman community activities and corporate-wide, multi-sector business development initiatives.

With approximately 1,200 employees in Huntsville, Northrop Grumman is among the city's largest private employers. The company's major customers include the Army Space and Missile Defense Command; Army Aviation and Missile Command; Army Program Executive Offices for Tactical Missiles, Aviation, and Air, Space & Missile Defense; and elements of the Missile Defense Agency.

In his previous position at Northrop Grumman, Montgomery was vice president and general manager for the Kinetic Energy Interceptors program, a critical element of the layered missile defense architecture being developed by the Missile Defense Agency. Under Montgomery's leadership, Northrop Grumman won the $4.5 billion, eight-year prime contract in December 2003.

Brig. Gen. Montgomery (Ret.) joined Northrop Grumman in 1999 following a 32-year career with the U.S. Army. His most recent Army assignment was senior acquisition executive for Air and Missile Defense Systems.

Montgomery earned a bachelor's degree in mathematics from Presbyterian College in Clinton, S.C., and a master's degree in electrical engineering from the University of Texas in El Paso. He is also a graduate of the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College, the Industrial College of the Armed Forces, and the Defense Systems Management College.
