Nokia establishes new test environment to support mobile network rollouts in India


Espoo., Finland - Nokia is establishing a new GSM/EDGE test environment in India to support its operator customers in this rapidly growing market. The investment further enhances Nokia's capabilities to serve its operator customers, underscoring Nokia's commitment to India and its millions of GSM subscribers.
 
The test environment, located in Networks office facilities in India, comprises of Nokia GMS/EDGE radio equipment, circuit and packet core equipment, SMS center and MMS center, as well as a network management system. The system will support Nokia's end-to-end customer care by providing a fully functional testing and simulation environment, and it will also be utilized extensively in customer and partner training in India.  The test environment will be fully operational in January 2005.

During 2004, Nokia has won four major infrastructure contracts in India, and is now supplying mobile infrastructure to five of the largest operators in India. India is one the world's fastest growing markets in terms of mobile subscriber growth.
