DALLAS, Feb. 15, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- 2005 HIMSS Conference -- Optio Booth #2911 -- Optio Software today introduces a new version of Optio MedEx that significantly improves documents-on-demand and forms automation performance.
"Version 1.2 of Optio MedEx provides the scalability, reliability and response times that healthcare organizations need to support high-processing volumes and eliminate process bottlenecks in ADT, nursing and other clinical areas," said Steve Kaye, Optio's senior vice president of marketing and product management.
Part of Optio's suite of healthcare software solutions, MedEx provides real-time access to electronic healthcare forms and other patient information -- without the expense and manual effort involved in processing preprinted forms. It produces bar codes, eliminating the need for manual scanning, indexing and filing. The system intercepts print-stream information or HL7 messages from hospital information systems, and provides real-time access to patient information in a secure database that supports printing, faxing and e-mail output.
MedEx version 1.2 provides: - Improved Navigation. The new version consolidates patient, form and printer selection on a single optimized screen, allowing users to produce document sets with just three mouse clicks. - Enhanced Performance. The redesigned MedEx database provides faster response times, performance and greater scalability to support even large communities of users. - Intelligent Search Capabilities. Users can search for patient records by using parameters such as patient ID, name, MRN and SSN, and to narrow the search by including or excluding discharged patients. MedEx 1.2 also helps users locate the desired form from among hundreds by searching based on form name, class, category and type. - Flexibility. Healthcare organizations can now filter information based on specific locations, units and groups of users. The new version also allows users to group forms into logical document sets and automatically route demographic information to every document in the set. - Integration with Optio Print Manager, enabling healthcare organizations to monitor, manage and provide failover capability for printers located in multiple sites. - New HL7 message support and customized processing. MedEx enables customized processing for both "no data" and "null" according to each facility's interpretation of the HL7 specification. It also provides new message support for A31 (updating personal information), handling multiple insurance carriers and multiple next of kin, and cancel discharge.
Optio MedEx 1.2 will be generally available by the end of the first quarter of 2005. For more information about MedEx, visit www.optiosoftware.com/MedEx
