HOUSTON, Feb. 22, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- The Workforce Report Card will compare the Gulf Coast's labor market and the effect it has on the local economy against that of comparable metropolitan regions in the United States. Each region has been compared and graded by a variety of indicators, and the report will present what the Board believes employers, educators and community leaders in the Gulf Coast region must do to remain competitive.
The Gulf Coast Workforce Board's vision is that the Gulf Coast of Texas ranks among the top ten economic regions in the world. Its mission is to help employers solve their workforce problems and residents build careers, so both can compete in the global economy.
The WorkSource, directed by the Gulf Coast Workforce Board, is a comprehensive human resources provider serving the 13-county Houston-Galveston Gulf Coast region. It focuses on both supply and demand employment issues affecting entire industries.
The WorkSource is not an employment or government agency. It is a nonprofit, public/private partnership addressing the needs of employers - the source of jobs for area residents.
In keeping with its focus on employer needs, The WorkSource operates 36 community-based career offices to help residents with a variety of job search and job training services.
