IRVINE, Calif., Feb. 23, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- Columbus, Indiana-based Physicians Practice Organization chose AcerMed Inc.'s comprehensive EMR and Practice Management system in a deal valued at nearly $1 million.
Physicians' Practice Organization (PPO) is a multi-specialty group focusing on Family and Internal Medicine as well as Pediatrics, Obstetrics and Gynecology. The group has 23 providers and seven locations in the Columbus area.
"After nearly two years of research and negotiation, we are very pleased PPO selected AcerMed over several other larger competitors," said Michael Bina, chief executive officer of AcerMed. "It validates the power and flexibility of AcerMed's software. We look forward to serving the needs of this group for many years to come."
PPO selected AcerMed's software because it is easy to use, comprehensive and provided the features the physicians were seeking, including specialty-specific modules for Family Medicine, Pediatrics and Obstetrics/Gynecology, according to Jeff Mongelli, national sales director for AcerMed. A turnkey solution provider, AcerMed also supplied PPO's hardware and networking needs.
Specific features for Family and Internal Medicine include HEDIS; health maintenance alerts; chronic disease flowsheets that identify patterns and solutions; problem-focused treatment plans; disease management alerts; and reporting for diabetes, hypertension, asthma and other common problems.
Pediatric-specific features include well-child exams from birth through 18 years with social and developmental histories; anticipatory guidance; growth charts; immunization schedules; and problem-focused exams for common conditions such as colds and flu, upper respiratory infections, asthma and allergies.
For OB/GYNs, AcerMed's software includes flowsheets for gynecologic care, prenatal care and post-operative care; antepartum records; lab panels; and critical alerts.
AcerMed's system is built on a single Microsoft(r) SQL database for the seamless flow of data between patient records, billing and scheduling software.
