International Survey of Internet Banking Ranks First Tennessee Site No. 1

www.FirstTennessee.com Site Upgraded Even After Its Number-One Ranking

MEMPHIS, Tenn., March 7, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- A survey of Internet banking by financial services consulting firm Speer and Associates has named First Tennessee's online banking Web site number one of more than 70 financial services companies in the Western Hemisphere. First Tennessee tied for number one with HSBC in Speer and Associates' 13th Internet site survey. Enhancements to First Tennessee's site earned it a third most-improved ranking as well. But since the survey was completed, First Tennessee has again upgraded the site, www.FirstTennessee.com.

"Use of our online banking service has grown by 61 percent in the past year, and our Web site gets about a million unique visits each month," said Ean Colley, online financial services manager for First Tennessee. "Our customers and potential customers are depending more and more on the Internet and the services we provide there, so it's very important to us to perform at a world-class level and continually enhance the value of the site."

The online banking services are used by customers of both First Tennessee and First Horizon, which is the brand name the company uses outside Tennessee. These customers are able to view images of the fronts and backs of their checks online, take advantage of free online bill payment, view balances and transactions and receive Internet statements with e-mail notices that alert them when the statements are available online.

First Tennessee has the largest consumer and business market share in Tennessee, and customers have awarded First Tennessee with one of the highest customer retention rates of any bank in the country.
