Globix Provides Global Webcast of Siyum Hashas Celebration

Inaugural Webcast Brings Together Orthodox Jews From Around the World

NEW YORK, March 17, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- Globix Corporation (OTCBB:GBXX), a provider of application, media, IT infrastructure and network services, provided an international webcast from New York City of the Jewish celebration Siyum Hashas that was held by Agudath Israel on March first.

The event brought together more than 120,000 people joining in the celebration of the final reading of the 2,711-page Talmud, which occurs approximately every 7 1/2 years.

Globix helped to distribute Siyum Hashas to an additional 45 venues via a webcast which was accessible and projected around the globe, providing a cost effective solution for venues that would not have been able to participate in this historic event.

These venues were as far away as Australia, Canada, China, Poland and Russia. For this specific webcast of Agudath Israel's event, Globix acquired the live broadcast transmission from Madison Square Garden, over a fiber optic video network, and encoded these feeds at their worldwide headquarters in downtown Manhattan. Everything was then distributed over "Earthcache(r)", Globix's own high capacity internet backbone and content distribution network.

The signals were encoded to very specific parameters, so that each venue could view the webcast at the best possible quality. Some venues then chose to project the encoded celebration on to large screens allowing thousands of additional participants to view.

"We're very pleased with the high quality video webcast for this event," said Rabbi Aryeh Berger of Agudath Israel. "Globix was very professional and assisted us throughout the entire process. Having one of their top technical experts during the event to handle inquiries and questions from the remote venues was certainly an added benefit. We would definitely use Globix again for an event of this magnitude."

Prior to the event Globix did extensive testing and implementation of the webcast. In addition, Globix consulted with Agudath Israel's numerous outlets to determine the necessary audio and video parameters that were most compatible.

"A webcast for such a large event shows how our capabilities can easily extend the reach to multiple geographic venues worldwide," said Ed Warner, General Manager of Globix Media Services. "This event also illustrates how webcasting can be used as an important audio and visual communications platform for major announcements and worldwide functions."
