Telelogic Makes Requirements Management Accessible From Anywhere and Everywhere

Telelogic DOORS XT Provides Round-The-Clock Access to Requirements Management In The Office, At Home, and Across The World

IRVINE, Calif. and MALMO, Sweden, March 21, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- Telelogic (Stockholm Exchange: TLOG), the leading global provider of solutions for advanced systems and software development, today announced the release of Telelogic DOORS XT. This new addition to Telelogic's market-leading requirements management (RM) solutions integrates virtual workgroups, providing access to requirements management throughout projects across an enterprise, increasing their chances for success.

Telelogic is the market leader in Requirements Management, with a 41% market share in 2003 according to Gartner* and continues its technology leadership, winning the 2005 Yphise Award, for the second successive time, for the `best ranked software product in comparison with the competition for Requirements Management**.'

Telelogic delivers the industry's broadest requirements-driven approach to ALM (Automated Lifecycle Management) including:

- Visual Requirements Analysis

Graphical expression of requirements in Telelogic DOORS/Analyst(TM)

- Requirements-Driven Development

Visibility and traceability to requirements from systems and software models within Telelogic TAU(R)

- Requirements-Driven Testing

Traceability from requirements to tests through built-in capabilities in Telelogic DOORS or integration with third party test management solutions

- Requirements Change Management

Workflow support for managing changes to requirements is provided by Telelogic SYNERGY(TM).

DOORS XT extends requirements-driven ALM by delivering high performance on low-bandwidth connections, with access to a scalable, central requirements database from anywhere in the world, at any time.

"DOORS XT further strengthens our market and technology leading requirements management solutions, by making it easier for development teams and other stakeholders to access requirements, anywhere and anytime they need them," said Ingemar Ljungdahl, Chief Technology Officer, Telelogic. ``Companies increasingly rely on geographically distributed project teams to develop systems and software. The advances found in DOORS XT will improve collaboration and co-ordination of project teams and enable organizations to maximize productivity, reduce rework arising from miscommunication and deliver on promises made to their customers."

Key Advances

DOORS XT transforms distributed workers into a unified workgroup by providing:

- Distributed collaboration

Supporting high performance on low-bandwidth access to a scalable, central requirements database (Oracle) from anywhere in the world, at any time, DOORS XT's three-tier architecture (including a WebLogic application server) transforms thousands of geographically dispersed workers into an integrated team following a single set of requirements. Through interoperability with DOORS, DOORS XT enables an extended workgroup to benefit from the rich requirements and traceability information already created in and managed by DOORS.

- Support for easier adoption of Requirements Management DOORS XT's user interface combines the best of familiar environments like studio-style interfaces and web browsers. Ease-of-use gets even casual users up-to-speed quickly and promotes the adoption of RM practices by the wider workgroup.

- Simpler deployment

Installing and upgrading a DOORS XT client is performed via download from the server. This greatly simplifies and reduces the cost of administration when deploying in large numbers and across multiple sites.

Analyst Comments

"Requirements management is important not only for systems and software developers. Business objectives, regulations and customer needs are all key requirements that affect productivity and operational efficiency," said Thomas Murphy, Vice President, META Group. "Companies in every industry must manage and track their requirements effectively, and ensure that all key stakeholders are making decisions based on the correct set of requirements. Extending requirements management to a wider audience through distributed access and modern UI standards is a vital evolution to encourage further adoption of this best practice."

"In our recent report `Requirements-driven application lifecycle management,' Yphise recognized Telelogic's continued leadership in this field and awarded Telelogic DOORS our 2005 Award," said Xavier Benmoussa, Principal Analyst, Yphise. "With DOORS XT, and the announced easier access to requirements management for distributed teams, Telelogic would take their leadership further."

"As more and more companies attempt to integrate remote workers and product teams, as well as worldwide suppliers, into a virtual workgroup, they will demand faster and more flexible access to requirements, regardless of where their team members are located," said Bola Rotbi, Senior Analyst Application Lifecycle Management, Ovum. "Requirements management solutions that provide scalable support for distributed teams combined with ease of adoption and deployment will equip those teams with a better platform for success."

Availability and Platform Support

Telelogic DOORS XT will be available on 28 March 2005 for Windows 2000 and Windows XP clients and Windows 2000 Server / Advanced Server and Sun Solaris 9 servers. DOORS XT is interoperable with DOORS 7.1 to enable a wider workgroup to benefit from existing DOORS requirements and traceability information.
