WHAT: The 2nd Annual College Poker Championship(tm) (www.collegepokerchampionship.com) is coming to an end for 2005. May 8th is the final day for students from around the world to register and compete for the title of the World's Best College No Limit Texas Hold'em Poker Player. Right now, more than 25,000 students from more than 2,300 campuses are battling it out for the title and their share of the $135,000 prize pool. CPC is a free online tournament available to registered college and university students worldwide. Graduate school and community college students are also eligible. College Poker Championship provides an exciting and stimulating environment for students to win donations to their favorite charities and receive scholarships that allow students to further their academic endeavors. WHEN: May 1 and May 8, 2005 4pm EST -- Final Weekly Tournaments: These are the final three events for students to compete and advance to the semifinals. May 15, 2005 4pm EST -- The Semifinal Tournament: Only students who have qualified in the previous competitions will be able to participate, the top 20 percent will move on to the Final Table. May 22, 2005 4pm EST -- The Final Table: -- The Champion will be awarded a $41,000 academic scholarship. -- Contestants placing 1st-10th will earn a $1,000 donation to be awarded to the charity or organization of their choice. -- Players placing 2-10 will share a $53,300 scholarship prize pool. -- Players placing 11-80 will share a prize pool of $15,500 of scholarship awards. HOW: To qualify for the Semifinal Tournament, students only need to register online at www.collegepokerchampionship.com and participate in one of the remaining weekly tournaments held each Sunday through May 8th. There is no fee to participate in the tournament and the top 10 percent each week advance to the Semifinal Tournament.
