PECO Energy Multicultural Series Returns to Penn's Landing

PHILADELPHIA, April 28, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- Penn's Landing Corporation will proudly produce its 20th year of free programming this year on the Great Plaza, the heart of Penn's Landing, and Philadelphia's premier riverfront entertainment destination. The 20th Anniversary Summer Program Season will feature a diverse schedule of events including the eleven multicultural festivals that make up the PECO Energy Multicultural series. The annual PECO Energy Multicultural Series will begin June 11, 2005 with the International Islamic Festival and continue throughout the event packed 2005 season concluding on September 11 with the Mexican Independence Day Festival.

This year during the PECO Energy Multicultural Series, a second festival day will be added to the new and very popular Asian Festival, and the African American Cultural Extravaganza will be celebrating the twentieth anniversary of their festival. Additionally, the Mexican Independence Day Festival, which saw record crowds in 2004, expects more than 10,000 people to attend in 2005.

Supporting the region's diversity has been a longstanding goal for PECO, who has sponsored the multicultural festivals at Penn's Landing for the past ten years. "All of us at PECO are thrilled to return again to the waterfront to support the multicultural festivals," said PECO president Denis O'Brien.
