LXE Inc. Reports Record Revenue for First Quarter of 2005

ATLANTA, May 17, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- LXE Inc., a leading manufacturer of rugged wireless computers that improve the performance of supply-chain execution applications, announced today that it set another quarterly revenue record for first-quarter 2005. The first quarter mark extends LXE's run of record quarters for year-over-year revenues to ten.

Driving the record results is significant global growth in LXE's vehicle-mount computer sales, as well as strong growth in sales through LXE's U.S. VAR channels.

"Growth in our vehicle-mount business accelerated in 2004," says Jim Childress, LXE president and general manager. "The first quarter of 2005 shows no slowing of this momentum with vehicle-mount sales that are 142% of 2004's first quarter sales. And we have made enhancements and additions to our line of RFID-enabled computers that we expect will contribute to revenues during the remainder of 2005."

"The investments we made in our U.S. channel program in late 2003 and early 2004 continue to pay off," says Peter Fausel, LXE's senior vice president of Sales and Marketing. "Sales increases through our channels continue to significantly outstrip industry growth rates. First-quarter 2005 channel results are up 50% versus what we saw for the same quarter last year."

Key announcements in the first quarter include collaboration with Intel and Sirit to produce robust, forklift-mounted RFID data-collection solutions for use in warehousing and distribution. This effort will produce solutions that will enable customers to garner the benefits of RFID throughout their warehouses, beyond simple compliance with industry mandates.

Also, LXE recently announced several significant software upgrades to its EPC-compliant, RFID-enabled rugged handheld computer, the MX3-RFID. Upgrades include a firmware enhancement that enables customers to meet retailer requests for 96-bit tag support. In addition, new software has been added to the unit that will enable customers to upgrade the MX3-RFID to the EPC Gen2 UHF specification, thus "future-proofing" their MX3-RFID investments.
