Metso to supply a rotary railcar dumper to Hamersley Iron in Australia


Metso Minerals will supply Hamersley Iron a dual barrel rotary railcar dumper at the East Intercourse Island terminal in Dampier, Western Australia. The delivery will be completed in February 2006. The total value of the order is approximately EUR 8 million, and it was included in Metso Minerals' first quarter order backlog in 2005.
 
The contract includes the supply of a twin cell rotary railcar dumper, which will replace the current single barrel rotary railcar dumper. Metso Minerals will adjust the new solution to the existing railcar positioner. The rotary railcar dumper is expected to start operation in May 2006.
 
East Intercourse Island is one of two ship loading terminals at Hamersley Iron's Dampier port. It has facilities for train unloading, ore-product blending and ship loading.
 
In 2004, Hamersley Iron's turnover was USD 1.625 billion. Hamersley Iron is a member of Rio Tinto Ltd, the world's second largest iron ore producer.
