STOCKPICKREPORT RATINGS:
Google (AMEX:GOOG) -- WEAK BUY http://www.stockpickreport.com/abrating.php?sym=GOOG Nextel Communications Inc. (Nasdaq:NXTL) -- WEAK BUY http://www.stockpickreport.com/abrating.php?sym=NXTL Atmel Corporation (Nasdaq:ATML) -- STRONG SELL http://www.stockpickreport.com/abrating.php?sym=ATML Taiwan Semiconductor Mfg Co Ltd. (NYSE:TSM) -- WEAK BUY http://www.stockpickreport.com/abrating.php?sym=TSM Friday, June 3, 2005 StockPickReport Commentary Thursday Recap Don Harrold, Senior Analyst
The market realized a modest uptick Thursday. Nonetheless, the stock market hobbled out of the gates with a ho-hum move at the open. Throughout the session the stock market "dialed it in" to eventually close higher for the day by only a small percent.
Commentary with respect to inflation, political stability, and domestic spending gave brokers plenty to consider. However, daytraders sure got a couple winners. Stocks that saw good moves up are, among others, Turbochef Technologies, Valpey Fisher and Amkor Technology. Short-sellers bit off more than they could chew with Amkor Technology!
Several hedgefund managers sense that equities are close to a fork in the road. In light of all the uncertainty swirling around of late about war, it's astounding the equity markets didn't drop. Frankly, folks may be curious why stocks rallied in the waning moments of the trading day anyway.
An analyst reported, "...the economy is losing steam." -- Francois Trahan, chief investment strategist at Bear, Stearns & Co.
Stocks to watch closely when trading resumes include, among others, Ciena, Cisco Systems and Dobson Communications. Volume was quite noticeable on these issues. We ought to find more of the same Friday.
