Nokia to strengthen its foothold on the Asian TETRA terminal market with T. On Telecom


Espoo, Finland - Nokia and South Korean operator T. On Telecom have signed a contract that will deliver Nokia TETRA terminals for their new TETRA network. This contract, the biggest ever in the South Korean market, covers the Nokia THR880i handportables on the 800 MHz frequency band. The deliveries started in the first half of 2005.
 
T. On Telecom, Trunked Radio System operator has decided to replace its current analogue network equipment and terminals with digital TETRA network. As a result, Nokia has been chosen as the main terminal supplier for the network. The main users of the network in the first phase will be public transportation employees in the Seoul and Kyungki metropolitan areas.

With a color display and a user interface in Korean, the Nokia THR880i handportable radio terminals offer a superior user experience combined with top-quality performance and a robust design. The THR880i radio with its integrated GPS receiver and versatile positioning features help to coordinate field operations and enhance the users' safety.  As the only TETRA Terminal on the market, the Nokia THR880i features a XHTML color browser that enables viewing and accessing digital content from organization's databases and even from the web.
