CHESTER, Pa., July 26, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- Adult and online education is continuing to grow, especially in the Human Resources field, according to a survey conducted by EducationforAdults.com at a recent Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) Conference held in San Diego.
Industry experts have been expecting booms in adult and distance education due to growing interest in online degree programs from schools like the University of Phoenix. This seems especially evident in the Human Resources field, where fifty percent of the professionals surveyed by EducationforAdults.com said they planned on returning to school for a graduate level degree.
"The majority of the HR professionals at the conference want to go back to school," says Tara Longo, manager of EducationforAdults.com, a website dedicated to helping adult students find the ideal school for their needs. "Of everyone we surveyed, fifty-two percent believe the extra education will further their careers and seventy-seven percent said their company offers full or partial tuition reimbursement."
Longo believes these numbers are good news for the entire education industry. Regardless of the motives, she says, working professionals continuing their education is good for the field. She believes that if more adults start going back to school, even if it is part-time via the Internet, it has the potential to interest more people in pursuing similar avenues, which can lead to a more educated society.
EducationforAdults.com and its partner websites Distance.GradSchools.com and StudentProspector.com are built with these busy adults in mind. EducationforAdults.com and Distance.GradSchools.com are databases of continuing education and distance learning programs respectively, and StudentProspector.com is a tool allowing students to fill out a profile and be recruited by interested schools. All three websites aim to help adults find the right education for their needs.
