Photo Release -- Northrop Grumman's Frank Flores Receives Pioneer Award from Hispanic Engineers Organization


EL SEGUNDO, Calif., Aug. 4, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- Northrop Grumman Corporation's (NYSE:NOC) Frank Flores has received the 2005 Pioneer Award from HENAAC, a Hispanic engineers organization.

The award is presented yearly to an individual whose professional achievements in science, engineering and technology -- or in a career impacting science, engineering and technology -- have broken traditional societal, political, economic or professional barriers, thereby opening doors and setting a new course for others to follow.

Flores, a vice president of engineering, logistics and technology in Northrop Grumman's Integrated Systems sector, leads an organization of more than 4,000 employees that supports major programs such as the RQ-4 Global Hawk unmanned reconnaissance system, the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter, the B-2 stealth bomber, and the F/A-18 Super Hornet strike fighter.

"Frank demonstrates the integrity and credibility of a leader in the workplace and in the community, and we are proud to have him representing Northrop Grumman," said Gary Ervin, an Integrated Systems sector vice president.

Flores has been active in programs that bring Northrop Grumman engineers into schools as tutors and mentors. He also has served on the board of directors for the San Diego chapter of the United Services Organizations (USO).

He was named one of the 50 Most Important Hispanics in Technology and Business in 2005 by the editors of Hispanic Engineer & Information Technology magazine.

Before he joined the Integrated Systems sector in 2004, Flores worked at Northrop Grumman's Space Technology sector, where he served as director of the F-35 communications, navigation and identification program.

Flores earned a bachelor's and a master's degree in electrical engineering from the University of Southern California.
