STOCKHOLM, Sweden, Aug. 9, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- Pergo (Europe) AB and Witex AG are pleased to announce that the patent infringement lawsuit initiated by Pergo against Witex USA, Inc. in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Georgia, in which Pergo had alleged that Witex USA, Inc. was infringing Pergo's U.S. Patent Nos. 6,397,547 B1 and 6,421,970 B1 through Witex's manufacture and sale of mechanically-locking flooring panels, has been settled by the parties on terms that are mutually beneficial to both Pergo and Witex.
Pergo is a leading flooring company with strong market positions, particularly in Europe and the U.S. Net sales amounted to MSEK 2,780 in full-year 2004 and the number of employees is around 800. Pergo developed laminate flooring at the end of the 1970s and launched the product in Europe during the 1980s. The company started sales in the US in 1994 and later also in Asia and Latin America. The company's products have been marketed under the PERGO(R) brand name since 1989. The company is listed on the Stockholm Stock Exchange's O-list.
