First Horizon Bank Announces Launch of Children's Financial Literacy Program

First Horizon Bank's Super Star Savings Campaign Offers Super Star Savings Kits and $25 to Children Who Open Savings Accounts

MCLEAN, Va., Sept. 16, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- First Horizon Bank announces today the launch of "Super Star Savings," a program aimed at educating parents, teachers and children about the life-long value of financial literacy. The program provides tips to parents on teaching the value of saving and encourages kids to learn the benefits of saving. By opening a new First Horizon savings account with an initial deposit of $25 or more, children will receive an additional deposit of $25 from First Horizon. Once a month with a deposit from the account holder, First Horizon will add another $5 to these newly opened accounts, giving children the opportunity to earn up to an additional $60 in the first year.

As part of the "Super Star Savings" program, First Horizon financial center managers will visit local area after-school programs, libraries and community centers offering an interactive program to educate and help kids get excited about saving. The children in attendance will receive a free First Horizon "Super Star Savings" kit to equip them with the tools to keep track of their savings progress. The kits will come in First Horizon-branded backpacks and include a piggy bank to store savings before deposits, tips for parents on how to encourage good saving habits and tips for kids on how to start saving to reach their goals. The kits also contain other educational and fun items. An insert in the package informs kids and parents of the offer of a $25 deposit from First Horizon with an opening deposit of at least $25. No minimum balance is required for this account for the first year.

"Through our Super Star Savings program, we are providing a forum for parents, teachers and kids to talk about the importance of understanding finances and saving money," said Terrie G. Spiro, regional president of First Horizon Bank. "Financial literacy for youth is important, and we are excited to bring this program to both our financial centers and the communities in which they are located."
