Sika acquires Maxit's bridge business

Sika AG in Baar, Switzerland, has taken over the Polyment KIB (Constructive Structural Engineering) Division of the Maxit Group.

Maxit, a HeidelbergCement AG company headquartered in Germany, is one of the largest mortar producers in the world. The acquired sector is strongly positioned in the German markets for renovation and sealing of bridges.

Sika will now strengthen its position in this project-oriented, consultation-intensive business. Sika Deutschland, the German arm of Sika, expects to capitalize on the acquisition and gain added volume. The acquired sector does some CHF 19 mil. in annual business.

The integration into Sika Deutschland is to take place on November 11, 2005 and is subject to regulatory approval by the competition authorities.
