EMERYVILLE, Calif., Sept. 27, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- IdeaBlade Corporation, a leading provider of innovative developer productivity suites and middleware for the Microsoft .NET environment, today announced the completion of its first institutional financing round. The round is led by Convergence Partners, a Silicon Valley early-stage venture capital firm and includes the participation of several prominent individual investors. The infusion of capital will be used to accelerate market adoption of IdeaBlade's breakthrough Productivity Suite for the Microsoft .NET Framework.
Ideablade's solutions dramatically accelerate time to market by reducing the cost and complexity of building competitive Microsoft .NET applications. In addition, IdeaBlade greatly simplifies the implementation of Microsoft Smart Client applications. Microsoft Smart Clients combine the power and richness of desktop applications with the availability of thin client Internet applications.
"IdeaBlade is positioned to become the unquestionable leader in middleware and productivity tools for developing Microsoft .NET enterprise applications," explained Eric Di Benedetto, general partner at Convergence Partners.
An early adopter of IdeaBlade technology is Broadlane, a provider of business services to the healthcare industry. Broadlane required a version of their application that offered a rich user interface, and competitive pressures required them to be up and running in weeks, not months. IdeaBlade gave them the time to market advantage they needed. "IdeaBlade made it extraordinarily easy to adopt the Microsoft .NET Framework and achieve immediate success for business users with our .NET applications," said Mike Howell, V.P., Architecture and Policy.
Also participating in the financing round is Robb Wilmot, the former ICL CEO. Wilmot is an accomplished private investor with a history of successful startup investments including 7 IPO's and 9 strategic acquisitions. This is not the first time Wilmot has teamed with Albert Wang, co-founder of IdeaBlade. VXtreme, Wilmot's previous investment with Wang, sold to Microsoft in 1997 and is now a core technology in the Windows Media Player.
"Albert is a brilliant entrepreneur who has a keen sense of the market and what innovations will have commercial success," said Wilmot. "Many ISVs and corporations are struggling to move to the next generation of web services based applications and they will need the kind of productivity tools that only IdeaBlade provides."
Commenting on successfully completing their first institutional round of financing, Albert Wang, IdeaBlade's co-founder and CEO added: "IdeaBlade is going through a tremendously exciting phase in its development. In the last few months, thousands of new users have adopted our technologies, we have assembled a visionary advisory board, and now we have the financial backing that will accelerate our growth and secure our market leadership position."
